High gas prices reveal more American stupidity

In my mind, the fact that many Americans are complaining about high gas prices instead of advocating nuclear fusion research -- if perfected would create low-cost, clean and abundant energy -- is a sizable example of how unbelievely stupid people can be. In other words, if you want to solve a problem you have to introduce something new. And if you're too stupid to realize that, then I'm not taking responsiblity for it.

Has anyone else noticed how comedian Carlos Mencia likes to make fun of stupid people -- or at least people he considers stupid? Though his routine may not persuade the stupid to stop being stupid, I do like the fact that he's trying. Most entertainment seems to glorify stupidity.

How do you stop Americans from being so stupid?

Yeah! How about it? Stupidity supposedly is a constitutionally-protected right. But I would argue that when stupidty interferes with the rights of others, then that constitutional protection shouldn't apply. More to the point, the stupidity of many Americans has dangerous consequences such as scientific illiteracy and the resistance to scientific progress that often comes with it. Well, I say if so many Americans are as stupid as they seem, then there has to be a way to take advantage of that. That is, if you can persuade Americans that being smart and having critical thinking skills is cool, hip and happening, then most Americans might actually accept it. Unfortuntely, I'm not sure how to go about that. But going about it does seem to me to be the best way to stop Americans from being stupid.

Opposition to the space program

I might be wrong about this, but I think opposition to the space program is another indication of the dumbing down of America. After all,, many of those who oppose space exploration know virtually nothing about it. This uninformed opinion of space travel therefore exemplifies the resistance to critical thinking that seems to be prominent among most Americans.

Opposition to advances in medical technology

What I'm about to say will be controversial by the megaton, but I think it has to be said. Anyway, I have a general opposition to assisted sucide which is based on the notion of continuing advances in medical technology. For example, the so-called pacemaker for the brain:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/08/02/implants_offer_hope_in_brain_injury_cases
When I mentioned that new technology as one reason why I generally oppose assisted suicide on other tribes, most of the folks ignored the technology and attacked my opposition to assisted suicide. It's as if these people believe that support for assited suicide is madatory and those who oppose it need to be punished. Yet technology is coming that could eliminate the "need" for assisted suicide. This sounds like the so-called "culture of death" to me. Reject advanced medical technology so you can have an excuse to euthanize someone. Yes, I know there are still many incurable and debilitating illnesses that won't be cured for decades. But the ultimate issue here should be individual choice. Though I don't persoanlly like the issue of assisted suicide, that does't mean I should stop it. Likewise, if I don't want assisted suicide for myself, then it shouldn't be forced on me. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work that way. Of course that's often the result of living in a stupidity-oriented pseudo-society.
If there were more brilliant brainiacs, the medical technology mentioned at the previous link might have been perfected years ago. Instead, we have to wait many years from now before such a breakthough technology is fully availble.

A very uninformed viewer who phoned C-SPAN recently claimed that the International Space Station costs $4 trillion. Holy crapoli! Last I heard, only $100 billion was spent on the ISS during its nearly 10 years of operation. And I'm sure that far less than $4 trillion has been spent on NASA during its 50-year history. Ironic that a person who doesn't know the difference between a retrorocket and a retrovirus can so suredly proclaim such a massively false statement about the space program. But in this stupidity-oriented pseudo-society, that sort of thing happens all the time.

The Unabomber has won

With all this technophobia and anti-science malarkey going on these days -- even though it is the 21st century -- I have to conclude that the Unabomber has won. I've noticed that when I mention potential technological advances and such on other tribes and what-have-you, most people respond in a very hostile manner. As if technological advancement is the height and depth of evil. They even disregard the irony of using the technology of the internet to express their anti-technology beliefs. Moreover, the pace of technological advancement is slowing down -- at least accoring to my estimation. Nuclear fusion should be available by now. Unfortunately -- due to this technological slow-down -- fusion may not arrive for decades or not at all. The first human Mars landing was supposed to happen in the mid 1980s. Now a human Mars landing may never happen either.

In this age of spectacular mediocrity, many people seems to be very happy to resist technological change despite the fact that change is an unavoidable consequence of exisitence. This resistence to change seems so strong to me that the Unabomber's dream of a return to pre-industrial technology could actually come true within the coming decades. And yes, I know the Unabomber is a brilliant mathematical genius. But the fact is that a lot of folks who aren't so smart agree with his manifesto which -- according to my judgement -- doesn't make sense.

On another tribe, I recently asked if anybody noticed the hypocritical admiration for Martin Luther King Jr. One (stupid) person on that tribe thought I asked why there is hypocritical admiration for Martin Luther King Jr. There's a huge difference between the two questions. And I can't process why this person thinks both questions are synonymous. It's just another reason why I hate living in this stupidity-oriented pseudo-society. People often take me out of context. Unlike my previous therapist, my current therapist actually let me talk and rarely interrupted me. But yesterday, those good times came to a crashing end. When I asked her how to deal with rejection, she basically said I should just get back up, dust myself off and try again. I don't know about you, but I've heard that expression about a quadrillion times! In other words, I again have to deal with a therapist who is not as smart as I am!

I guess therapists these days don't need to be so educated since most Americans today seem to be less informed than the previous generation. Therefore, I may be required to look for a therapist who IS smarter than I am or just quit therapy entirely. Whatever the case, the dumbing down of America is really, really boring to me.

Celebrating new year's is more important that human lives

In the shitty city of Detroit, there is a deadly and dangerous tradition of people shootings guns in the air on new year's eve. Even though the news of deaths and injuries caused by such irresponsibilty have been reported, these total morons keep doing it any way. Thus, according to their limitlessly stupid way of thinking, celebrating new year's is more important that human lives. This, my fellow carbon-based organisms, is perhaps the best proof that stupid people are dangous, evil and shouldn't be allowed to breed -- ever!

Is the stupidity of the general population why technology is advancing at a snail's pace

You might disagree, but I say technology today is advancing at a snail's pace. For example, it took 11 years for the U.S. to go from launching a 3-foot satellite into orbit to launching a 300-foot rocket to the moon. Yet 11 years from the first Space Shuttle launch, space technology has reamained virtually unchange. Today if you ask an expert how soon humans will land on Mars, some will say 30 years from now. And if current trends continue, experts 30 years from now will say the first human Mars landing will happen in 60 years! Computer, end program!

I understand that many folks are technophobic and have the right to think in those terms. But that doesn't mean they have the right to keep the rest of us in the Stone Age. Just because most people seem to lack apprecation for technological advancement doesn't mean it shouldn't happen. Therefore, I have to assume that the stupidity of the general population is why technology is advancing at a snail's pace. If more people were smarter, we might have better technology today -- including a human Mars flight that happened YEARS AGO!

I was watching C-SPAN this morining, and noticed that a viewer called in who referred to nuclear bombs and hydrogen bombs as being two different things. Computer, freeze program!! How in the solar system could this person think such an inaccurate thing?! As we all know (I'm assuming we all know), a hydrogen bomb is a type of nuclear bomb. And the two types of nuclear bombs that exist are nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. In this nuclear age, it makes no sense for private citizens or politcal leaders to know nothing about nuclear physics. But more to the point, it makes no sense for all people in this so-called 21st century to know nothing about the basic facts of all science. Science effects EVERY aspect of life today, yet many people believe science has no effect on them. Of course these folks know little if any science. Their lack of science knowledge IS NOT evidence that science is unimportant. It's eveidence that they don't know science. And such, Icontinue to insist that PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW SCIENCE!! And if I'm wrong about that, then I'm President Gaius Baltar: Leader of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol!

But because there are assholes who think their right to disturb people is more important than the right of people not to be disturbed, then these assholes go on to disturb bus riders. Makes me wish I had some sort of mind control ray to mind control these assholes into shutting the fuck up!

If the human brain is supposed to be the most complex and inconceivably sophisticated thing in the universe, then why are people SO STUPID?!?! I mean, the most complex and inconceivably sophisticated thing in the universe should be focused on exploring the awesome mysteries of the universe, NOT obsessing over how Jennifer Anniston is handling her divorce! Therefore in order for me to handle this extreme dichotomy. I’ve decided that the claim that the human brain is the most complex and inconceivably sophisticated thing in the universe is a titanic exaggeration. I think there are retroviruses that have more brains than a lot of people I know!

Stupid people...driving....under the influence...SURE!

"STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Carmaker Volvo has asked for special exemption from Sweden's tough drink-driving laws so its test drivers can have a glass too many to test new safety systems that warn if a driver is not reacting to danger.

Volvo, whose success rests on its reputation for building safety-conscious family cars, will only let its drunk drivers take the wheel on its own test tracks near the west-coast city of Gothenburg if it gets permission from the Swedish government.

"It's a matter of developing technical systems that warn if the driver isn't reacting properly," said Christer Gustafsson, spokesman for Volvo Cars, which is owned by Ford.

"That means if the driver is tired, sick, drunk or under the influence of other drugs. We want to do this in a controlled environment in Sweden," he told Swedish news agency TT.

The new safety system is still at the development stage and Gustafsson said he could not give more details about how it works. "It's all about preventing accidents," he said.

Sweden has one of the best road-safety records in the world thanks partly to drink-driving laws which are among the toughest in Europe. The laws apply to private and public roads.

Stockholm County Traffic Police said the most drivers could drink without risking a heavy fine is one beer, while drivers caught well over the limit can be sent to prison."

Is it just me or is Volvo just making it alright for people to drink and drive? Safety features for drunken drivers on their cars, what a revolting idea. In my opinion if you are drinking, tired or under the influence of drugs that slow down your reaction times, then you shouldn't drive! Basically they are gonna let people be stupid!!!!!!

Ok...the stage is set with the back drop being Wal-Mart. I know I shouldn't have to even continue the story just the Wal-Mart name screams out to all of us...."Stupid People!"
But, I was so shocked by this scary woman who was around my age (27) I had to tell some one.

All I wanted was to get some bird food for my little cuties back home. So, on my way to the Casa I cruised by our local white trash hub (WM). Right away the scream of some little child made to think twice about the choice I had made. But, I walked through the doors and into a trailer park reunion. I got my bird food as fast as possible and on my way to the register it happened. This thing with bleached blonde/white hair cruised (yes she was driving the motor carts that a 90yr old should be using) up behind me holding a baby in one hand and an RC cola pack in the basket. She tapped the back of my heel with the cart and then started to yell at her other 3 children (yes I said 3). "Johnny get your little ass over here!" , "If you don't get here now I'm going to beat your ass when we get home". Turning to the 2 year old she proceeds to call him a "dumb ass" and grabs him by the back of the shirt. At this point I'm about ready to freak'n blow my top and start WWF smack down right there in WM (hell if figured if you can't beat them join them). I turned around looked at her and said "and this state requires people to have a license to fish?" From the skid marks on her forehead I could see she didn't understand the remark I had just made to her. I got my bird food and ran to my car. I vowed...never to look back at that bad place. :) lol
This just proves again that "Stupid People Shouldn't Breed"!

From Craigslist:

$700 - up to 700 cash and services ;-) or even just cash for 1bdrm or Studio (vallejo / benicia / fairfield)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reply to: anon-98976512@craigslist.org
Date: 2005-09-21, 7:31AM PDT

Hello
I am the single mother of three kids with an ex who unfortunatly doesn't pay his child support. When I left my ex-husband I had one ding for 85.00 on my credit. Now it looks like WWIII hit it, badly!

Out of nessacity and because I got tired of watching my kids go without, I started working as an escort. I am independant, I'm not ever so silly as to be other wise. Also never mistake the fact that no matter how I make my living I am now and always will be a lady.

Now I am currently spending an obscene amount of money on hotel rooms every day that are once again taking money away from my kids and I really hate that.

I am looking for a 1 bedroom or a studio apartment to use for work purposes only. My clients are all professional business men. I don't work late at night nor do I see a great deal of people every day. I am very private and discreet in my business. I'm not noisey, disrespectful and I take care of my business, my things, and the things around me. I can also provide a current and good reference from my current landlord.

My problem is this. I can't prove most of my income on paper. I can show only about $1200.00 that comes from traditional sources and none of them involve welfare or the state of California. I would rather do what I'm doing than ask you or the people of the state of California to support either myself or my children.

So now I'm looking for a landlord that would be willing to work with me. I can afford up to probably 650.00 or 700.00 a month or I would be willing to work out an arriangement for rent and services or even all services for a monthly rental.

I can only promise you that my job would never cause you a moments trouble from other tenants or anyone else.

Please email if you can help me and take care until then

2. Beguiled into believing compliance is noble free choice.
3. Motherhood, and fatherhood, may be achieved without breeding. Many children wait for good homes.

1. My child could find a way to save the world.
2. "Mother of God" complex. (Also applies to men).
3. If you want something done right, do it yourself.

1. We'd like to try for a boy/girl this time.
2. Ego extention. Gender identity insecurity. Dissatisfaction with existing offspring.
3. Appreciate who you have, they might resent their sibling whose gender is preferred.

1. I just want to.
2. Just wants to.
3. Choosing to breed precludes most other things you'll just want to do.

1. I want someone who will love me and not leave me.
2. Fear of rejection. Unresolved relationship issues.
3. Give love to get love. Accept change and deal with loss.

1. Our economy needs young workers to replace retired workers.
2. Willing to sacrifice offspring to gods of National Economy.
3. Automation reduces need for wage slaves. Consider rights of unconceived to stay that way.

1. The world needs more of us or we'll be outnumbered.
2. Elitism. Xenophobia. Eugenics easier to conceal than genocide.
3. Convert others to your views so there'll be one more of your kind and one less of Them.

1. We may as well, the planet is doomed anyway.
2. Nihilistic natalism.
3. Consider ethics of sentencing an innocent person to life, and death, in ecological collapse.

1. I'd like to achieve a sense of immortality.
2. Fear of death and non-existence.
3. Accept mortality. Spread memes not genes. Socrates' heirs are not apparent, but his ideas linger strong.

1. My biological clock has gone off.
2. Women's normal heightened sexual desire in 30s & 40s difficult to accept in puritanical societies.
3. Disarm that culturally-implanted mental time bomb. It's okay to make love and not babies.

1. I don't know. Never thought about it.
2. Unthinking conformity.
3. Think before you breed, and you might not.

1. I might regret not having had the experience later, when it's too late.
2. Fear of future worries and life passing too fast.
3. We can't experience everything. Far better to regret not breeding than to regret breeding

1. I do not want to deny my kids (who do not exist yet) the joy of existence.
2. Ignoring lack of joy in existing children.
3. Promote existence of joy rather than imagining joy in mere existence.

1. Procreation has traditionally been a source of personal empowerment for women.
2. Feels powerless. Desires power and respect society appears to give to mothers and withholds from others.
3. Mothers get more lip service than respect. Picking up family's slack is not empowering. Seek self-defined sources of power.

Although most conceptions are unintended, a desire to conform to what society considers normal is probably the number one cause of wanted pregnancies. Many who continue to breed have never considered doing otherwise. Natalist propaganda remains insidiously rampant and rampantly insidious.

Ray Bradbury is up in arms over the new Michael Moore progandentary, Farenheit 9/11. Says Bradbury, "[Moore] is a horrible human being – horrible human!" When asked if he agrees with Moore's political positions, Bradbury replied, "That has nothing to do with it. He copied my title; that is what happened. That has nothing to do with my political opinions."

This from the author of such originally-titled works as "I Sing the Body Electric" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes". I think I shall title my next work "Dandelion Whine" just to exploit the free publicity of a Ray Bradbury tantrum.

stupid things said during the holiday season???

ok, so it's been a while since anything has been posted on here-thought i'd ask:

Q.)what are some of the "stupidest" things you've heard this holiday season (or past years)???

A.) mine would have to be my older brother's big
"born again/recovering alcoholic" rant during grace....
(don't get me wrong- i'm glad his life is "in-order" and that he found "god" but,
lets not create a scene ok.... )

this is a close second to my younger brother's thanksgiving comment of,
"i wasn't raciest till i went to college."

and in previous years, my grandmother's comment of,
"so, i hear you go to school with a lot of 'coloreds'?" ("coloreds"?? wtf, is this 1944!?!?)

Some are stupid and a few are,
well, cute.

-----------

Judge: I know you, don't I?

Defendant: Uh, yes.

Judge: All right, tell me, how do I know you?

Defendant: Judge, do I have to tell you?

Judge: Of course, you might be obstructing justice not to tell me.

Defendant: Okay. I was your bookie.

----------------------------------------------------

From a defendant representing himself . . .

Defendant: Did you get a good look at me when I allegedly stole your purse?

Victim: Yes, I saw you clearly. You are the one who stole my purse.

Defendant: I should have shot you while I had the chance.

----------------------------------------------------

Judge: The charge here is theft of frozen chickens. Are you the defendant?

Defendant: No, sir, I'm the guy who stole the chickens.

----------------------------------------------------

Lawyer: How do you feel about defense attorneys?

Juror: I think they should all be drowned at birth.

Lawyer: Well, then, you are obviously biased for the prosecution.

Juror: That's not true. I think prosecutors should be drowned at birth, too.

----------------------------------------------------

Judge: Is there any reason you could not serve as a juror in this case?

Juror: I don't want to be away from my job that long.

Judge: Can't they do without you at work?

Juror: Yes, but I don't want them to know it.

----------------------------------------------------

Lawyer: Tell us about the fight.

Witness: I didn't see no fight.

Lawyer: Well, tell us what you did see.

Witness: I went to a dance at the Turner house, and as the men swung around and changed partners, they would slap each other, and one fellow hit harder than the other one liked, so the other one hit back and somebody pulled a knife and a rifle that had been hidden under a bed, and the air was filled with yelling and smoke and bullets.

Lawyer: You, too were shot in the fracas?

Witness: No sir, I was shot midway between the fracas and the navel.

----------------------------------------------------

Defendant: Judge, I want you to appoint me another lawyer.

Judge: And why is that?

Defendant: Because the Public Defender isn't interested in my case.

Judge (to Public Defender): Do you have a comment on the defendant's motion?

Public Defender: I'm sorry, Your Honor. I wasn't listening.

----------------------------------------------------

Judge: Please identify yourself for the record.

Defendant: Colonel Ebenezer Jackson.

Judge: What does the 'Colonel' stand for?

Defendant: Well, it's kinda like the 'Honorable' in front of your name - not a damn thing.

----------------------------------------------------

Judge: You are charged with habitual drunkenness. Have you anything to
say in your defense?

Defendant: Habitual thirstiness?

----------------------------------------------------

Defendant (after being sentenced to 90 days in jail): Can I address the court?

Judge: Of course.

Defendant: If I called you a son of a bitch, what would you do?

Judge: I'd hold you in contempt and assess an additional five days in jail.

Defendant: What if I thought you were a SOB?

Judge: I can't do anything about that. There's no law against thinking.

Defendant: In that case, I think you're a sob..

In my other ear, I overhear co-workers discussing the war in Iraq.

Woman 1: "I mean, we won the war -- why can't we just, you know, kill all the Iraqis and only put, you know, Americans there? I know that's terrible, but COME ON."
Hi,

This is a great e-zine which I subscribed to years ago.

While I do far too many dumb & stupid things, few (if any) are as bad as those who receive the "Bonehead Of The Day Awards"

So if you want to read about some things which some REALLY stupid people do, check it out!

This issue has some examples of the differences bewteen men and women.

Something overheard while two guys puzzled over a flyer for the Girth and Mirth party (a party for "bears" in SF):

"What is that? I mean, mirth? What's that?"

After a minute more of scratching their heads, someone steps in and informs them that "Mirth means gleeful and happy."

"It does? Really? That's what that means?"

And yes, they were in their thirties and therefore far beyond the point by which they should have been acquainted with english vocab 101, something that should have been taught in their high school.

ALSO, IT MAY BE A CONSIDERATION TO OTHERS IF YOU INCREASE YOUR FIBER INTAKE, THEREBY FURTHER REDUCING THE CHANCES OF CLOGGING.

A man was let go from his job two weeks ago for receiving an inappropriate email. Not sending, forwarding, or writing, but receiving it. He wasn't the only one either, everyone who had anything to do with it on any of the headers within the company got fired too. Some of those people did do other things with it, so I can't defend that, but making receiving email a termination offense is quite likely one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

Now the bile:
I've been laughing at the idea of these lawsuits since they started. If you march into you local chapter of Mc Donalds for lunch today, order a double 1/4lber w/ cheese, super-size the fucker and eat the whole thing in one sitting only to get up and feel good, you're either a highschool athlete or it's too late. If you've eaten at any of these fast food chains in the last two decades, you have to be aware it's not good for you. Has the US finally worked its way around to treating it's (debatably) most recognizable institution the same way it treats it's cigarretes? If there's an upside to all of this, I can hope that the next round of packaging from McDonalds features a "will give you a giant ass" warning on all it's burger wrappers. That would go great with the warning already on the coffee cups.

OK, I'm new here, that's a given. Great idea for a tribe, but damn people, there are far too many stupid people in the world to sit here and be apathetic! We need to take a pro-active approach.

I move that we start our own suicide cult, with a difference. Instead of us waiting for a comet or earthquake to kill ourselves, I say we go out and encourage others to kill themselves! Not only should stupid people not breed, they should kill themselves as well... cleansing the gene pool you know.

Yahoo! News - Affleck, Lopez Wedding Scene Cut From Film

NEW YORK - A wedding scene with Ben Affleck (news) and Jennifer Lopez (news) has been scrapped from director Kevin Smith (news)'s upcoming "Jersey Girl," according to Us Weekly magazine.

"I didn't know if (it was right) to leave it in," Smith is quoted as saying in the March 8 issue. "People might forget they're watching a picture, like, `Wait, didn't these two NOT get married?'"

Affleck and Lopez were supposed to have married last September, but abruptly postponed their lavish plans "due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding." They have since ended their engagement.

"Jersey Girl" is set for release March 26.

So someone(I don't remember who you are because I don't care about you) was saying that its not that so many people are stupid its that they are lazy. Your wrong. And your an idiot. Laziness is the mother of invention. Stupidity is stupid. And for those of you that think I speak to monosyllabically its so you can understand me.

Ok, so there's a new Batman movie in the works. The cast:
Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne(If you've seen "Equilibrium" you know he can pull this off.)
Sir Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
And also Liam Neeson (Character unconfirmed)

They got REAL actors for this. So it might NOT suck.

It seems a valid question. Are there some whose lives we might just enjoy watching spiral ever downward until they've no option other than ritual suicide left to them, and might little evil versions of them be just the means to the end we're looking for? We've certainly all seen at least one such life go this path while another far more deserving life stayed clear. I ask, then, is there someone who should not only breed, but breed such putrid spawn that the unending agony of their existence can be traced, without a doubt, back to the conception of their first rabid puppy?

I nominate old girlfriends and Dan Fielding. Who is with me?

By now I'm sure your slobbering for a cup with you own first intitial picked out in glass chips on it. Rejoice ye mouth breathers! I have for you a link: http://www.icedoutgear.com/pimp-cups.php

Note the disclaimer in sentace #4.

Second:
If you've come of age in the U.S. you've likley had a brush with one sub-culture or another. Some of the less fortunate of us have occasioned to participate in now and again. I'll cop to having tried my hand at being a "hommie" in highschool. The only good thing that came of this was when I stopped doing it in the late 90's. Smelling change on the wind (for the record it smelt like re-gurgitated Hennessy), I made friends with the raver kids and never looked back.

Six years later look at the state of this shit. My fellow Americans! Hear me. There is something I must ask you to do if a friend, famliy member, or aquaintance shows up on you door step toting one of these cups. Knock them down, kneee on their shoulders, and proceed to slap the shit out of them until they can explain why. Or don't. I couldn't really care. With any luck the cup's plastic composition should render the user sterile.

DARWIN AWARD CANDIDATES:

* In February, according to police in Windsor, Ontario, Daniel Kolta, 27, and Randy Taylor, 33, died in a head-on collision, thus earning a tie in the game of chicken they were playing with their Snowmobiles.

* In September in Detroit, a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to retrieve his car keys.

* In October, a 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who "totally zoned when he ran," accidentally jogged off a
100-foot-high cliff on his daily run.

* Buxton, NC: A man died on a beach when an
8-foot-deep hole he had dug into the sand caved in as he sat inside it. Beach-goers said Daniel Jones, 21, dug the hole for fun, or protection from the wind, and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom Thursday afternoon when it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach, on the outer banks, used their hands and shovels, trying to claw their way to Jones, a resident of Woodbridge, VA, but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him while about 200 people looked on. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital.

* In February, Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed in Lompoc, CA, as he fell face-first through the ceiling of bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth (to keep his hands free) rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor.

* According to police in Dahlonega, GA, ROTC cadet Nick Berrena, 20, was stabbed to death in January by fellow cadet Jeffrey Hoffman, 23, who was trying to prove that a knife could not penetrate the flak vest Berrena was wearing.

* Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed in February in Selbyville, Delaware, as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger.

DARWIN AWARD HONORABLE MENTIONS

* In Guthrie, Oklahoma., in October, Jason Heck tried to kill a millipede with a shot from his 22 caliber rifle, but the bullet ricocheted off a rock near the hole and hit pal Antonio Martinez in the head, fracturing his skull.

* In Elyria, Ohio, in October, Martyn Eskins, attempting to clean out cobwebs in his basement, declined to use a broom in favor of a propane torch and caused a fire that burned the first and second floors of his house.

* Paul Stiller, 47, was hospitalized in Andover Township, NJ, and his wife Bonnie was also injured, when a quarter-stick of dynamite blew up in their car. While driving around at 2 AM, the bored couple lit the dynamite and tried to toss it out the window to see what would happen, but apparently failed to notice the window was closed.

RUNNER UP....

TACOMA, WA

Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 am. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable lay nearby. One end of the cable was secured around Bingham's leg and the other end was tied to >
the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy river water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. "All I can say "said Bingham, "is that God was watching out for me on that night." "There's just no other explanation for it." Bingham's foot was never located.

AND THE WINNER....

PADERBORN, GERMANY

Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt fed his constipated elephant Stefan 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally let it fly, and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop!

Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on him. "The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground, where he struck his head on a rock and lay unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of him" said flabbergasted Pade

The definition of Epistemology

They say Epistemology is the study of knowledge. I prefer to see it as observations on different modes of belief and perception - not so much of the extent to which said beliefs and perceptions are valid as, perhaps, the means by which we've arrived at them. Are these two definitions pretty much the same? Does this mean I've expanded my vocabulary, or simply lost my ability to communicate both effectively and succinctly?

Have I let slip the essence of wit from my grasp?

I've been doing some thinking on the subject, and I realize that I am a much different person than I was when I graduated high school. Philosophically and morally I have grown into someone unrecognizable from who I was at 18. It was a culmination of classes in college, my own musings, and just plain 'ol life experience that led me here.

So the question I pose to you is: In your opinion how much have you changed since you were 18, and what do you think caused it?

don't you think you *smart* people are all stupid in some area?

...don't you think that *stupid* might be relative to part of world you are born in or depth of experience or opportunities coming your way...? a person can be *stupid* because he knows nothing about current events, music or art ,say, but person might be a tech genius...for instance...

what I think some of you are on about is bad behavior...bad , un-basic, *human* behavior.

Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

Nice to see the US no longer has the monopoly on stupidity

From the http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/tees/3479171.stm"

"A seven-year-old girl has been told she will not lose her sight after her eye was glued shut in a bizarre accident.

Michelle Skidmore, from east Cleveland, accidentally used nail glue instead of eye drops to treat her daughter.

Doctors have said Karen - who could not open her eye for three days - may have suffered a scratched cornea.

Ms Skidmore said the two containers were almost identical and she felt "awful" at what happened."

Oh - she feels /just awful/ about it.

Four Westside High School students are suspended for promoting a white student for an African-American award.

More than 150 flyers (pictured, below right) were distributed throughout the school Monday. They featured junior Trevor Richards (pictured, left), A South African native who moved to the United States in 1997.

Westside officials say the flyers were were quickly removed because they were inappropriate and insensitive to black students.

Trevor said he is as African as anyone else.

"I had no intent of hurting anyone or offending anyone. I wasn't trying to make a statement. I was just running for the award, but i guess the administration felt differently," Richards said.

Richards was suspended for two days.

Two other students were disciplined for putting up the posters and another student was punished for starting a petition to promote Richards.

-------------------
I'd say both sides are running up equal scores in the unfit to breed category...

If you're trying to get streaming data on-line, but it is only formatted for RealPlayer, and you're sick and tired of people sneaking your personal and contact information off to databases for money, the BBC is hosting spyware-free versions of Realplayer for Windows, Mac and Linux.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/audiohelp.shtml?help

Once you've got this, I recommend listening to the lovely and talented Annie Baxter's coverage of the KVSC Tivia Marathon here:

http://news.mpr.org/features/2004/02/09_baxtera_stcloudtrivia/

Pass it on, as I imagine RealNetworks will try to get out of their arrangement once they've realized Americans are getting the software.

Certainly looks PAINFUL...

I'm not sure if I think it is stupid in light of much cultural historical documentation (and current as well as historical) that tells us body piercing AND adornment have been around a long ,long time...

Roger Waters(the NOW version of the man)
source: Pink Floyd /The Dark Side of the Moon (DVD)

About the song Brain Damage:
***There is a tendency within most societies to try and force everybody into a particular regimen...and,um... stop people from walking on the grass.

There's something about, I suppose about that particular lyric...something about producing grass...and then not letting anybody enjoy it...
You know...Let's make a beautiful lawn and then not let anybody walk on it or kick a ball about on it or do anything on it...
In a way it's about the DESIRE to walk on the grass being mad...
Something wrong about that...***

Stupid people shouldn't use the mail.

I just got this insanely stupid forward from one of my cousins.
I would block the messages, but occasionally some of them are
relevant. Anyway, like all forwards, this message annoyed me, but I found my ire particularly raised by its content. The message concerned the removal of posters at certain post offices that displayed the motto "In God we trust." Then, the complaining continues that there is no reason for them to be removed, and the message implores people to write "In God we trust" on their mail because it's our national motto and it's one the money used to pay for said mail.
I can honestly say that both sides of this argument are stupid
and anal. One side says that people shouldn't complain when something like the posters bothers them, but I'm pretty damn sure those same people would campaign for censorship if they saw something that bothered them. Who the fuck cares about a little poster anyway?
Writing "In God we trust" on the mail isn't going to make any sort of valid point, and it seems to be a pretty big waste of time for something so goddamn trivial. When was the last time anyone thought or cared about the national motto anyway? It just goes to show how ignorant, petty and annoying most of the people in this country, let alone the world, are.

Listen, if voting could change anything, it'd be illegal. Doesn't matter who you vote for, the Government will get in again, you know what I mean?

Am I an anarchist? What's the point? Anarchists are people who
don't get it. They form organisations. Anarchist organisations. I mean, why even let those people into the room?

Libertarian? Get away from me.Libertarians are fat white guys who don't want to pay taxes but who expect highways for their fatass SUVs to like magically appear nonetheless.

I just found your full name, email, street address, company name, fax and phone number. It is fortunate that I am a well-adjusted, calm and generally disinterested party. If I were, say, some kind of psychotic stalker, you'd be in trouble right about now.

It looks like you paid $13.95/year for your domain. When you're ready to renew, try http://www.aanagram.com instead. It's my company, it would have got you the domain for free, and it will keep your shit private.
